Nestled in the mountains of Valley County, Lake Cascade is one of Idaho's most beloved destinations — a reservoir where anglers, boaters, and families have been making memories for generations. When the opportunity came to bring this lake to life in wood, we knew it had to be done right.
The Process
Every laser map piece starts with precision. We pull topographic and geographic data to capture the true shape of the lake — every inlet, every bay, every contour of the shoreline. For Lake Cascade, that meant tracing the long, narrow body of water stretching from Cascade up through Donnelly and Roseberry, with the surrounding road network etched into the natural birch surface.
The layered depth effect is where the magic happens. Each "ring" of the lake is cut from a separate layer and stacked to create a three-dimensional topographic feel — the deeper the water, the deeper the layer. Finished in shades of sky and deep blue, the lake literally rises off the board.
The piece is framed in a weathered gray border with the Lake Cascade script cut and raised at the top, and Cascade Idaho engraved along the bottom — a clean, gallery-ready finish that works in a cabin, a living room, or a lake house.
